10 Years AgoTwo members of the Warsaw Wrestling Club competed in Goshen invitational recently and both left with honors. Jarred went 3-0 to win a gold medal in the 45-pound weight class, and brother Justin Brooks (Ford) went 3-1 to win a bronze medal in the 65-pound weight class. Both qualified for the Ohio State Championships in April.25 Years AgoLakeland Christian Academy athletes Cheryl Myers and Jennifer Ellis received state honors from the Indiana Christian Athletic Association during the recent state girls basketball tournament, in which LCA finished second. Myers was named the tourney's MVP, while Ellis was named to the all-tourney team. The teammates were one-two in scoring for the 18-4 Cougars during the 1985-86 season.50 Years AgoPhilip Scholl, a Warsaw HIgh School senior, received the Kosko Science Award for outstanding scientific knowledge to highlight the program at the Warsaw Community School's second annual science fair. The Grand Awards were also presented to Scholl in the senior high division, Darron Olden in the junior high division, Ronnie Stafford in the intermediate division, and Peggy Jo Kindy in the primary division. They received their awards from Supt. Carl Burt.75 Years AgoBecause of the loss of life and property in floods in the eastern states, the National Red Cross has called upon this county for a special contribution of money to aid the suffering. Acting upon this request, Warsaw Kiwanis Club held a special meeting recently at the office of Seth E. Rowdabaugh and made plans to raise $800 in the county. Of this amount, $400 was apportioned to Warsaw and the drive will begin immediately.
