During the brief trek to the Las Vegas Hilton, Leesburg's Howard (Chub) Smith, along with several area friends, took in the Suzanne Sommers show of "Three's Company: and "Playboy" fame. Some are still wondering how he got so lucky. 50 Years AgoJean Lucas, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Lucas, Warsaw, left Chicago by jet plane bound for Hawaii. She will visit Lt. Commander and Mrs. Robert Robbins and family at Ewa Beach, 18 miles from Honolulu. Mrs. Robbins is the former Sybil Saylor, of Warsaw.75 Years AgoIn one weekend auto trip recently, Mr. and Mrs. Ruel Baker of Warsaw visited in Cincinnati for lunch, took dinner in Louisville, Ky., and stopped in Indianapolis on the return trip to Warsaw. They left here at 7 a.m. Sunday and arrived back home at 4:30 Monday morning with their speedometer registering 612 miles in the elapsed time of 21 hours, including stops for lunch, dinner, supper and gas. Motor trouble at Indianapolis detained them several hours. This establishes probably the long-distance local joy ride record.
