10 Years AgoWarsaw Chapter No. 88, Order of the Eastern Star, will install new officers March 24 at the Masonic Temple. Doris M. Todd will will be installed as worthy matron and Rex Hogan will be installed as worthy patron. Past matrons will host a reception in the dining room following the ceremony. The public is invited to attend.25 Years AgoDawn Martin, Winona Lake, was selected by judges, as a first-place winner in the vegetable category in the Times-Union Spotlight Recipe Contest for her recipe Ma's Sweet Potato Casserole.3 cups cooked sweet potatoes; 1/2 cup margarine; 1 cup sugar; 2 eggs; 1 tsp. vanilla; 1/2 cup milk.Topping: 1 cup brown sugar; 1/3 cup margarine; 1/3 cup flour; 1 cup chopped nuts.With electric mixer beat potatoes with margarine until fluffy. Add sugar and mix well. Add eggs and vanilla and mix well. Add milk and mix very well. Pour mixture into buttered 2 quart baking dish. Combine brown sugar, margarine, flour and nuts to make crumbs. Sprinkle crumbs over sweet potato mixture. Bake 350 degrees for 30 minutes.50 Years AgoSeven concerts, a trip across the Mackinac Bridge and sightseeing around the locks at Sault Ste. Marie, Mich., will highlight the tour which Warsaw High School's 72-piece band begins March 22. There will will be a cavalcade of three chartered buses. The first stop is Lansing, Ill., where the students will be overnight guests in homes of band students of Thornton Fractional High School South. They'll present two programs in the school auditorium, which has a seating capacity of 1,500.75 Years Ago"Little Miss Tatters" is the name of the class play which the senior class of Warsaw High School will present April 7 at the Centennial Theatre. The cast for the play has not yet been selected, but H.H. Crabill, director, is coaching and expects to name a double cast within the next few days.
