10 Years AgoThe Knights of Columbus Francis Pitka Council 6323 of Syracuse contributed $509 to the Milford Elementary School Special Education Department. The Knights collected the money at their annual Tootsie Roll Drive in Milford. Making the presentation were Knights representative Don Curry and teachers Barry Heflick and Melody Coffey.25 Years AgoIn picking out new Warsaw city limit signs, the Plank administration showed allegiance to the Warsaw Community Schools by choosing orange as the color. The signs are are currently being placed at entrance points to the city. Mayor Jeff Plank said, in replacing signs that have been stolen or vandalized over the years, "We had an opportunity, as a community, to express in a small way our appreciation and continued support for the academic, cultural and athletic dedication and achievement of our young citizens." He said there was no additional cost as a result of the color change.50 Years AgoMore than 400 students will display scientific exhibits at the forthcoming Warsaw Community Schools Science Fair, it was announced today by Joe Rammel, junior high school instructor and coordinator of the fair, which will be held at the school armory. This is approximately one-third more exhibits than were on display at last year's highly successful showing and, on a per capita basis, represents a much higher student participation than for science fairs in larger, surrounding communities.75 Years AgoMrs. Mary Wolford, Warsaw, left recently for Plymouth, where she has accepted a position at Scottie's Cafe. Mrs. Wolford formerly was employed in the city at Foose's Restaurant.Mrs. Chester Hoover, Mrs. Maude Enyert, Ruth and Bob Hoover, Bob and Betty Caywood and Jean Conklin attended the basketball tournament at Auburn. Warsaw won the regional and defeated Columbia City 35 to 27.
