10 Years AgoSyracuse resident Danny Zent must have been one tired Hoosier this weekend.The father of two took home $167,000 from the "Hoosier Millionaire" television program broadcast Saturday night, and the experience apparently wore him out. "I am exhausted from all the excitement," Zent said. "I had hoped to make it to the millionaire round, but I can't believe it really happened." He now plans to buy the new house he's been wanting.25 Years AgoThe Pierceton Town Board heard representatives of the Bethel Bible Church of Pierceton have asked to annex into the town a piece of property owned by the church off the Pierceton Road. The board will instruct the town attorney Jim Walmer to prepare the necessary paper work to annex this area along with several other areas to be annexed.50 Years AgoMrs. Janet Lipply, of near Silver Lake, was very relieved after rescuing her 1-1/2-year-old son Gary, when he tried to investigate a cold air register in their home. After taking the grate from the register, Gary went down the hole feet first. His mother went to the basement, unscrewed the pipe, and extricated the youngster from a joint in duct. Gary was a little dirty, but outside a few minor scratches, none the worse for wear. 75 Years AgoInitiation services were held recently at the Hotel Hays by members of the Kappa Alpha Phi fraternity for three pledges, Max Barrick, Carl Pittenger and Maurice Ferguson. A three-course dinner was served during which time the pledges gave short speeches.
