10 Years AgoWith a sixth-place tie performing on the beam in Saturday's Valparaiso Regional, Wawasee freshman Lindsay Olson advanced to next Saturday's gymnastics state finals in Indianapolis. Olson finished with a score of 8.95, tied with Portage's Julianne Repay. Olson is the only local girl to advance.25 Years AgoGrace College will get to see the Chattanooga Choo-Choo, and the other sights of eastern Tennessee this week, earning a trip to the National Christian College Athletic Association national tournament with an 85-70 win over Cedarville College of Ohio. The win gives the Lancers a 26-8 record and the No. 3 seed in the eight-team NCCAA tourney, played on the Tennessee Temple University campus in Chattanooga.50 Years AgoCharlie H. Hapner, Warsaw, former employee of The Times-Union, celebrated his 82nd birthday recently. Sunday guests included Mrs. Mildred Hoffer, of Nappanee, Mrs. Richard Felabom and twins, Dixie and Richie, of Silver Lake, and Mrs. Worth Norris and Mr. and Mrs. M.O. Grisso, of this community.75 Years AgoThe girls and teachers of Claypool High School entertained the high school boys at a leap year party recently. All came dressed as kids. Stunts and games were played, after which refreshments of lollypops and popcorn balls were served.More than 200 tickets to the Auburn regional tournament were sold by the Warsaw High School. Loren Chastain, principal, received 50 more tickets, making a total of 400 in all. There will be two school buses leaving the school house Saturday morning to take any pupils wanting to go to Auburn.
