10 Years AgoMore than $17,900 was raised for Combined Community Services at the fifth annual Crazy Waiter Dinner Feb. 29 at Ramada Plaza Hotel.At the dinner, local business professionals act as the waiters and serve the guests, whom they invite. The guests must tip the waiters for everything from their chairs to their meals. The dinner has a theme and each table has a variation on that theme. This year's theme was "Decades." Each table represented a different decade. John Conley served as auctioneer, while John Strader provided the night's entertainment.25 Years AgoAlthough she was raised a "city kid," Maria Groniger, a housewife who now resides on a rural Warsaw farm, says she stood by to help when four sheep gave birth to a total of 11 lambs last week.Within a two-day period, three ewes each gave birth to set of triplets and one had twins on the farm of Al and Maria Groniger, Warsaw. It was quite an exciting event for the family, Mrs. Groniger remarked.50 Years AgoThe appointment of Max Eugene Reed, 28, formerly of Warsaw, as administrator of the Intangibles Tax Division of the State Revenue Department was announced by Gov. Harold W. Handley's office.Max is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Reed of Warsaw. Mr. Reed is a veteran meat department employee of the Kroger store. Max graduated from Warsaw High School in 1949, and will be remembered as an outstanding baseball pitcher.75 Years AgoMrs. Fred Riggs entertained recently the Harrison Center Home Economics club. A dinner, consisting of "What the Anemic Should Eat," was cooked and served to 20 members and one guest, Miss Pat Griffith. Miss Griffith is director of the W.L.S. Amateur show, now playing in Mentone, sponsored by the Club.
