Hostess was Jean Kolar.25 Years AgoUnlike some teachers, Deb McClintock demonstrates what she teaches, and wears what she preaches. McClintock, a 28-year-old teacher at Lincoln Elementary School, has combined the hobby of spinning and weaving of wool and other exotic materials with the family pet, Poppet, an English Angoran rabbit. She was able to provide her first-grade class with a hands-on learning experience they aren't likely to forget. Since the long-haired rabbit sheds an abundance of silky fur, McClintock is able to demonstrate the entire textile process used during the era of Daniel Boone.50 Years AgoMrs. Russell Smith, Warsaw, will be nominated for Indiana's Mother of the Year when three Warsaw women deliver official papers on their candidate to Mrs. Irene Gerard, of North Webster, state chairman of the Mother of the Year contest. The three who've been collecting data on Mrs. Smith's family, as well as her community, church and business activities, are Mrs. Harry Kinzie, Miss Jean Lucas and Mrs. Leslie Noggle. Mrs. Kinzie, first to propose the nomination of Mrs. Smith, said "Written Tributes" have come from as far away as California.75 Years AgoAccording to C.R. Gutermuth, head of the educational department of the state conservation department, Kosciusko County is being used as a model throughout the entire United States in the organization of conservation clubs of which clubs have a delegate on a conservation council. Gutermuth was Indiana delegate to the National Wild Life conference held recently at Washington, D.C. Delegates were present from every state and also from the Dominion of Canada. Programs were mapped out at this conference and Kosciusko County, Indiana, was used as a model in formulating the conservation plans.
