10 Years AgoCelebrating the opening of the Kosciusko SurgiCenter at Kosciusko Community Hospital, members of the public toured the new facilities recently following a brief ceremony. The Kosciusko SurgiCenter is now a 15,612-square-foot facility expanding east from the hospital's present lobby and registration areas. The previous surgical area was 5,400 square feet. Ground was broken for the SurgiCenter in February 2000. Part of the SurgiCenter went into service in September, with the remaining going into service in December.25 Years AgoThis recipe for Oriental Salad was a winner in the salad division of the Spotlight Recipe contest.1 head lettuce, torn in small pieces; 1 cup mandarin oranges, drained; 5 oz. slivered almonds, toasted in bacon fat; 1/2 lb. bacon, fried crisp and crumbled; 1 can french fried onion ringsDressing: 2-1/2 tbsp. of vinegar and honey; 1/2 tbsp. lemon juice; 1/3 cup sugar; 1/2 tsp. of dry mustard; 1/2 tsp. paprika; 1/2 tsp. minced onion.Heat dressing ingredients until sugar dissolves. Cool and add 1/2 cup oil; shake well. Layer salad ingredients in large salad bowl. At serving time, add dressing and toss. Harlan Smith, of Milford, has been chosen for a role in the Manchester College production of Rodgers and Hammerstein's "Oklahoma". She will play the role of Ado Annie Carnes. Miss Smith is a graduate of Milford High School and is a senior this year at Manchester College. She is majoring in education.75 Years AgoOn the occasion of her 14th birthday anniversary, Miss Dora Marie Ruse was pleasantly surprised recently at her home in this city. Games and contests were enjoyed, with Curtis Garber and Robert Kesler being among the prize winners. Delicious refreshments were served.
