The lights have been activated from time-to-time on an experimental basis.50 Years AgoThis recipe was from the Woman's Exchange column published Feb. 28, 1961, for Salmon Croquettes.Drain liquid from 1 pound can salmon into measuring cup; add milk to make 1 cup liquid. Melt 1/4 cup butter in saucepan; add 2 tablespoons minced onion and cook until tender, but not brown. Blend in 1/3 cup flour, 1/4 teaspoon salt, and 3/4 teaspoon Tabasco. Add milk mixture and cook, stirring constantly, until thickened. Flake salmon and add to sauce with 1 tablespoon lemon juice. Stir in 1/2 cup cornflake crumbs. Refrigerate until chilled. Divide into 6 or 10 portions and shape into cones. Roll in remain 1/2 cup corn flake crumbs to coat well. Place on greased baking sheet and bake in hot oven (400 degrees) 20 to 25 minutes until golden brown.75 Years Ago The Rotary Club's weekly luncheon was held recently at the Hays Hotel. The club was entertained by Prof. H.H. Crabill's high school debate teams. The subject debated was: Resolved: That medical care should be made available to all citizens at public expense. The affirmative team is comprised of Leonard Bodkin, Harry Bloomer; negative team, Ora Pottenger and Gus Chinworth Jr. The debate was very interesting, brought out many good points and was greatly enjoyed by all present.
