She is working at the Salvation Army in Muncie.25 Years AgoThis appetizer recipe won first place in the Spotlight Recipe Contest Taste-Off. Sweet-Sour Meat Balls In The Microwave: 1 finely chopped onion; 3/4 tsp. seasoned salt; 1 small can tomato soup (10-3/4 oz.); 3 tbsp. lemon juice; 1/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar; 1 lb. ground beef; 1 can drained pineapple chunks (13-1/4 oz.)Combine onion, salt, soup, lemon juice and brown sugar in 9x9x2 inch glass dish. Cook in microwave for 7 minutes. Stir every 3 minutes. Roll ground beef into small meat balls. Place meat balls in above sauce. Spoon some sauce over meat balls. Cook in microwave for 7 minutes. Turn halfway through cooking time. Stir in pineapple, Heat one additional minute. Serve with toothpicks. Contributed by Pat Donkers, Warsaw.50 Years AgoMr. and Mrs. Donald H. Lessig Sr., of Warsaw, are leaving for an extended vacation at Gulf Hills Country Club, Ocean Springs, Miss. They will go to Indianapolis en route to attend a dinner dance celebrating Engineers Week. Mr. Lessig is the Indiana state president of Professional Engineers.75 Years AgoAn enjoyable evening was spent recently at the American Legion Hall, when the East Side Mothers' Club, with their husbands as guests, celebrated its 24th anniversary. The entertainment was in the form of a circus, and everyone present participated in the event. At 6:30 whistles blew and bells sounded, calling the 41 guests to long tables, decorated with balloons, horns and circus animals.
