10 Years AgoSeveral local students were given academic honors for the fall semester at Grace College in Winona Lake.Local students named to the dean's list were: Christine Cook, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Cook of Warsaw; Beth Knavel, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Seth Mikel of Etna Green; Carolyn Lee, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Lee of Warsaw; Rachel Liebsch, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Liebsch of Warsaw; and Jessica Zaugg, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Zaugg of Winona Lake.25 Years AgoTwo local residents are featured in this month's edition of an Indiana sports magazine, "Creative Sports." Stories and photos were published on Jeff Grose, the leading "Mr. Basketball" candidate and a member of the Warsaw Community High School team, and Art Chaney, a Winona Lake octogenarian who recently won medals running in a national senior's meet in Florida.50 Years AgoBill Chinworth, son of Mr. and Mrs. William J. Chinworth, Warsaw, received commendation in a Tucson, Ariz., newspaper recently for his work as tympanist in a concert given by the Tucson Symphony. It was reportedly the first time a critic's review ever singled out a member of the symphony by name to bestow special praise for performance in an orchestral part. A senior in the University of Arizona School of Music, Bill is majoring in music education in preparation for a career as a music director at the high school or college level.75 Years AgoProf. J. Raymond Shutz, of Manchester College, spoke recently at the Warsaw High School to members of the entire school. His subject dealt with "Vocations," and he stressed the different points to be considered in choosing a vocation. This program was made possible by the Warsaw Kiwanis Club and was the beginning of a series of talks which will be given each Wednesday by local members of the Kiwanis Club to the high school civics classes.
