10 Years AgoKosciusko Youth Leadership Academy students recently met at the Winona Lake Grace Brethren Church to study the role of the church in the county. Other topics in the session discussed were The Oakwood Christian Academy and human services. Those in the group were: Kyle Masur, Warsaw Community High School; Gretchen Imhoff, Whitko High School; Alecia Poisel, Triton High School; and Madeline Crist, Whitko High School. Also, Sandy Mafera, executive director of United Way of Kosciusko County, Inc.; Dan Clay, Combined Community Services; Randy Packer, chaplain of KCH; Mark Opseth, Oakwood Christian Academy; and Pastor Dan Cox, United Pentecostal Church of Warsaw.25 Years AgoThe Kosciusko County Council voted unanimously to adopt a county option income tax effective this July.County councilmen J. Norman DeGood, Larry Teghtmeyer, Thomas Anglin, Carl Latta, Kathryn Teel, Dennis Polk and George Klinger accepted an ordinance establishing option income tax rates from 1985-1990.50 Years AgoMiss Martha Thomas, daughter of Dr. E.W. Thomas and Mrs. John Baughn, of Warsaw, was one of five nurses honored for outstanding scholastic achievement in a class of 40 graduates of Wesley Hospital School of Nursing in Chicago recently. Besides the nurses' pin, Miss Thomas received a scholarship key.75 Years AgoThe Past Noble Grand association held a hard times' party recently at the home of Mrs. Zola Smith, Warsaw. Sixteen members and one guest answered roll call with "My Most Embarrassing Moment." The president, Miss Bessie Blue, appointed the visiting committee for February and March. Miss Grace Snellenberger received a prize as the "best dressed" lady present. Miss Bessie Blue received the first prize in a potato peeling contest, as well as in the game of hearts.
