10 Years AgoThe Silver Lake Rambling Farmers 4-H Club met recently at the Silver Lake Elementary School. The evening began with a pizza party followed by the regular meeting. Several demonstrations were given. Danielle Pyle presented her photography project from the 1999 fair. Haylie Wertenberger shared information about her Japanese art set and about Japanese writing. Caleb Wertenberger displayed origami models and explained the Japanese paper folding technique. Amber Harman demonstrated how to wrap a box for the gift wrapping project.25 Years AgoAccording to the 1984 annual statistical report compiled by the Indiana Farm Bureau, Warsaw Community School Corp. has one of the lowest costs per student in the entire state. The report shows that the cost is $1,804 per student in the Warsaw school district while the state average is $2,152 per student. According to the report, 255 school districts in Indiana out of 299 are spending more per student than Warsaw.50 Years AgoThe annual Kiwanis club Valentine Party called "Sweetheart Party" was held as a dinner party at the Warsaw Civic Center with 88 members and wives attending. Members of the Warsaw High School band, which recently attained superior rating in contest playing, furnished a program of instrumental music. Kiwanian Gene Foresman, acting as program chairman for the night, introduced the band president, Lynn Shipley, who in turn announced the numbers and the students participating.75 Years AgoAt a meeting of officers of the Kosciusko County Farm Bureau and Co-Operative association with the vocational instructors in the Warsaw and county schools, plans were made for holding the first Farm Bureau and 4-H club fair in the county at Warsaw early in August. The meeting was presided over by Miss Rose Marie Kronmiller, of the Pierceton and Washington Township high school, who is president of the Vocational Teachers' Association of Kosciusko County.
