10 Years AgoSeveral students were honored during Akron Elementary School's recent DARE graduation. Winners of the DARE Essay Contest, each of whom received a stuffed Daren the DARE lion and a medallion, were Trent Boganwright, Tiara Cochran and Steven Tillman. Current Events award winners, also the recipients of medallions, were Eddie Ewing, Janelle Kollin, Amber Graves and Morgan Hite.25 Years AgoThrough a contribution from Pillsbury to Combined Community Services and the efforts of Warsaw Community High School home economics students, cakes and breads will be distributed to needy people in the area. The foods classes of Carol Plew gained baking experience with the donated cake and quick bread mixes and the finished products were returned to CCS for distribution. WCHS students Pam Barry, Laurie Caverley, Lisa Shearer, Barb Luck, Lisa Koser, Bunny Gregory, CCS director Joan Cusick and WCHS instructor Carol Plew were among the participants.50 Years AgoMax Reed, who has been absent from Warsaw for approximately 10 years, is now back in the city, associated with the law firm of Widaman, Bowser and Widaman. Max, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Reed, Warsaw, is a personable young chap who will be remembered as an outstanding Warsaw High School and American Legion junior baseball pitcher.75 Years Ago Warsaw is again threatened with a coal shortage more severe than the one experienced two weeks ago. A survey made at bins of leading coal dealers by a representative of The Times' resulted in its being found that one dealer has no coal at all and his supplies en route have been impounded for other towns facing a more severe shortage than Warsaw. Most dealers now sell from cars on the track. Some will sell only a ton at a time to customers.
