10 Years AgoFour Tippecanoe Valley girls swimmers will compete at today's state prelims at Indiana University natatorium on the IUPUI campus.Senior Amber Drudge swims in the 100 freestyle. She enters seeded 28th out of 34 swimmers with a time of 55 seconds. Noblesville senior Lacey Boutwell is seeded first with a time of 50.56 seconds. Drudge advanced to the state prelims by winning the 100 freestyle at the Warsaw Sectional. Valley's Alyssa Anglin, Kyleigh Gast, Hilary Vanlaningham and Drudge moved on in the 400 freestyle relay. They are seeded 27th out of 32 teams with their time of 3:49.32.25 Years AgoAlthough he isn't running for office this year, Sen. Richard Lugar of Indiana will be running prior to his speech here at the annual Republican Lincoln Day Dinner. Lugar will make a running tour of Winona Lake with two Grace College officials, Gerald Twombly, who is Lugar's campaign coordinator in this area, and Steve Grill, as well as the vice-chairman of GOP in Kosciusko County, Rex Reed.50 Years AgoMr. and Mrs. James Bell, Warsaw, will attend the Beta Sigma Phi Sweetheart Ball in Anderson Saturday and visit friends over the weekend. A buffet dinner will precede the dance. Mr. and Mrs. Arden G. Ober Sr., of Fort Wayne, will spend the weekend in Warsaw with their grandchildren, Cynthia, Pamela and Melissa Bell.75 Years AgoPrevailing sub-zero weather, well punctuated by an abnormal snow fall and heavy ice Friday night, shattered Kosciusko County's weekly prep basketball schedule which advertised a menu of 11 games, one of the biggest cards of the season. Postponement of six games was necessary last night when officials decided that near-impassible highways, made extremely treacherous by ice and snow, proved too dangerous for transportation of teams.
