10 Years AgoThe cat who graces the shelves of the Pierceton Washington Township Public Library is named Muffin. The big 3-year-old white female with striking black markings has charmed patrons, according to library director Pam Myers and library employee Nancy Stoddard. The cat was added to the library's catalogue of items three weeks ago when her former owner was unable to care for her. Strictly reference material, Muffin is not available for check out.25 Years AgoThe Warsaw Community Development Corp. recently presented a plaque of recognition to the individuals and companies that helped with the renovation of the Warsaw Depot. Those present were: Ron Davis, Zimmer; Tony Fleckenstein, Miller and Sons; Carmen Lock, owner of the Warsaw Depot; Stan Stokes, Little Crow Foods; Pat Lucas, chairman of the WCDC commendation committee; John Daffara, Dalton Foundries and WCDC; Mrs. Larry Castaldi, Tom Retseck, NIPSCO; Warsaw Mayor Jeff Plank; and Neal Carlson, First National Bank of Warsaw.50 Years AgoTrophy winners in the March of Dimes bowling tournament at Gilliam Lanes were Earl Shull and Gertrude Smythe, with Ralph Sanderson and Bernice Graham, of Leesburg, as runners-up. In the tourney at Holiday Lanes trophies went to Margaret Lancaster and Darrell Grindle. Runners-up were Elsie Wiest and Robert Rhoades.75 Years AgoMrs. W.A. Weick and Mr. and Mrs. D.A. Rankin recently left for Chicago, to spend a few days transacting business. Mrs. Fred Douglas is being employed at Mrs. Weick's Gift Shop during her absence.Miss Elizabeth Hines arrived home to spend a few days with her mother, Mrs. Vesta Hines, of near Warsaw. Miss Hines is a student at Northwestern University.
