10 Years AgoIn early January, service award plaques were presented by Kosciusko County Commissioner Avis Gunter to three employees whose years of public service totaled 95 years. Larry Montel retired at the end of December with 34 years and 10 months of service. Bruce E. Hyde Jr. retired in early January after 24 years of service. At the end of August, Alvin Miller retired with 36 years and two months of service.25 Years AgoThe asking price for the vacant Murphy Medical Center at Winona Avenue and Buffalo Street in Warsaw has been reduced some 46 percent, it was announced this morning. The asking price will be reduced from $650,000 to $350,000. The owners plan to make an all-out effort to dispose of and find a positive use for the property in 1986. The property includes the old Murphy Hospital building, the church, the new construction on Lake Street and a paved parking lot on the west side of Lake Street. Tax abatement on the improvements has already been approved by the city.50 Years AgoState Senator Paul Bilby, of Warsaw, has appointed Judy Lichtenwalter and Janet Bunnell of Warsaw to serve as pages in the State Senate at Indianapolis. Judy is a seventh-grader and Janet an eighth-grader at Warsaw Junior High School. Judy is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert W. Lichtenwalter, and Janet's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Del Bunnell. Both fathers are history instructors in the Warsaw Community Schools.75 Years AgoMilo Lightfoot, a senior of DePauw University, called on his parents recently en route to Greencastle from Fort Wayne, where he, with other students, was a student-critic judge of the district high school debate at the North Side High School. Schools participating were Bluffton, Elmhurst, Central and North Side.
