10 Years AgoMark McCleese, investigator for the Marion County, Prosecutor's Office, received an award from Marion County Prosecutor Scott Newman for his efforts in shutting down drug houses and cleaning up neighborhoods throughout Indianapolis. McCleese is the program director for the Marion County Prosecutor's Narcotics Eviction Program, which has received national recognition for closing down hundreds of houses where drug activity was present. McCleese is the son of Marvin and Shirley McCleese of Leesburg.25 Years AgoThe Kosciusko Community YMCA will begin construction of its new facility in March or early May, said Tom Prichard, president of the YMCA Board of Directors. An architect has been secured and a plan received. Completion of the $1.5 to $1.6 million project is expected in December of this year or January 1987.50 Years AgoGail M. Lowman, of this community, has been attending a marketing institute for the building industry at Purdue. It's sponsored by the university's adult education division.Sally Erwin, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R.E. Erwin, Warsaw, has returned to Purdue following a brief vacation between semesters. Sally is a junior in the home economics school.75 Years AgoEvery year it seems The Daily Times' sports staff must offer a just nickname for some county school. Last year North Webster, Syracuse, Etna Green and Claypool were without nicknames. We called North Webster Trojans. They kept that name. We baptized Etna Green Dandelions. They changed that to the Cubs. We called Claypool the Reecemen. They changed it to the Knights. This year we have the esteemed privilege of renaming the Syracuse team. We title them the Muskrats and we certainly hope they change it quickly.
