10 Years AgoUpward Basketball of Warsaw was expecting 100 to 200 children to sign up for its program the first year.They have 295. Upward Basketball is a national nonprofit organization with more than 100,000 children. A basketball league designed to instruct elementary children in the skills of basketball while emphasizing Christian values, the program started in South Carolina several years ago by a youth minister.25 Years AgoDowntown Warsaw experienced a record low of -25 degrees at 6 a.m. Sunday. Temperatures warmed to -7 at 8 a.m. and were expected to climb all the way to 10 or 15 degrees above zero later today. Most churches in Warsaw and the county canceled Sunday services. Rinebolt, right-of-way agent of the state highway department. On the "Devils Backbone," located near Palestine, six of the curves have been reduced to two.Under the new route the distance will be approximately 12-1/2 miles between Mentone and Warsaw instead of 13, engineers have figured.
