10 Years AgoSoon paper recycling containers will be at every recycling station in the county, Kosciusko County Solid Waste Management District Director Marsha Eikenberry reported. Instead of paper recycling days, the containers will provide county residents the means to recycle paper 24 hours a day, seven days a week.Next month a survey will be conducted at supermarkets to find out what people think about the different aspects of recycling in Kosciusko County.25 Years AgoThe winner of the Lake City Bank Automatic Teller Machine promotion was Vicky Decker, Winona Lake. She won a color TV. The second-prize winner Larry Elliott, Pierceton, won a TV-clock radio. There were more than 2,900 entries in the ATM promotion, which used application forms for ATM cards as the official entries.50 Years AgoTwenty-eight-year-old Maurice Warner, Pierceton, was awarded as Kosciusko County's "Outstanding Young Farmer of 1959" from the 1958 winner, Gene Ringgenberg, also of Pierceton. Warner, who will compete soon in the state contest, lives just a few miles south of Ringgenberg. This was the second year for the contest, sponsored by the Warsaw Junior Chamber of Commerce.75 Years AgoA surprise party was held recently at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Berkey of Warsaw. The party was in honor of Mr. Berkey's birthday anniversary. A potluck supper was served. Euchre and dominoes were the features of the evening's entertainment. As all the guests departed, Mr. Berkey was wished many more happy birthdays.
