The American Cancer Society and the local planning committee will kick off the 2009 Kosciusko County Relay for Life campaign Jan 31.
Relay for Life is an annual 24-hour event to raise funds for the American Cancer Society. This year's theme is "Circus," and kick-off attendees are invited to dress up in circus attire.
The kick-off is open to the public and will feature information about how to get involved in this year's Relay for Life along with food and entertainment. It will be held at the Baker Youth Club, 765 Market St., Warsaw, from 3 to 5 p.m.
This year's Relay for Life main event is scheduled for June 5-6. Participants register and form teams and raise funds for the American Cancer Society in the months leading up to the main event. At the main event, team members walk around a track, participate in several ceremonies and receive awards. At least one member of each team must be on the track at all times during the event. There also will be a DJ, live bands, late night movies, activities, contests and games.
