The American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Kosciusko County will launch its fundraising efforts for the year with a kickoff rally Sunday. Volunteers and participants can gather at Eastlake Skating Center, 3010 Frontage Road, Warsaw, from 2 to 4:30 p.m. The 2014 Relay For Life of Kosciusko County will be May 16 to 17 at Kosciusko County Community Fair Grounds beginning at 3 p.m. Although the Relay For Life of Kosciusko County is more than three months away, now is the time to get involved, the organization said in its announcement. Residents are invited to attend the kickoff celebration to learn more about the upcoming event and how they can become part of an overnight event that will pave the way to “a world with less cancer and more birthdays.” Relay For Life participants and visitors can celebrate the victory of local cancer survivors during the Survivors Lap; remember those who are fighting cancer or those who have lost their battle to the disease during the Luminaria Ceremony; and participate in the Fight Back Ceremony, which gives everyone a chance to proclaim his or her own way of taking action against the disease. There will also be information, refreshments and giveaways available.
