WINONA LAKE - Grace College named Kim Reiff the new chair of the Department of Art.
Reiff's undergraduate degree is in graphic design. She also holds her master's of business administration degree from Indiana University and will complete her master's in fine arts degree at Azuza Pacific University in June.Reiff is a former resident of the area and spent nearly 20 years in the orthopaedic industry in graphic design and marketing communication.
Reiff says she wants to "continue the excellence that Professor Art Davis and the faculty have built the art program on." Davis, former chair of the Department of Art, died in 2008.
She plans to increase the internship opportunities for students.
"It is important that students learn to define their own meaning of success in their calling as artists, Christians and professionals," Reiff said. "This is a process. Making art is a process, growing spiritually is a process, learning to work within the dynamic of the professional environment is a process."
"Being an artist is who I am," said Reiff. "It is the core of my being. Trained as a visual artist and having spent my career designing or managing graphics arts, I've had the opportunity to see the corporate world through the artist's eyes."
Reiff will become chair of the Department of Art with the start of the fall 2009 semester.
