A Wawasee graduate may be the most popular guy in the state this weekend.

Ralph Reiff, a 1976 Wawasee graduate, is the current director of St. Vincent's Sports Performance Center in Indianapolis.

And since 1980 he's been the head of medical services for all NCAA events in Indianapolis.

He's in charge of a staff of doctors and other medical professionals who will provide comprehensive treatment to the Final Four teams this weekend.

And for Reiff, who spent 18 years as the athletic trainer for Butler from 1981 to 1999, this weekend is extra special.

"This week has been great. I've been getting a lot of phone calls from friends and former students. It's been very gratifying," said Reiff.

Reiff said he's also been getting a lot of phone calls from friends asking for tickets to the games at Lucas Oil Stadium.

Reiff said he was at Conseco Fieldhouse for the state basketball finals featuring Warsaw."It's great to see people from Kosciusko County come down to Indianapolis," said Reiff. "It still makes me proud."

Reiff is the son of the late Robert Reiff. His mother, Patricia, still lives in Kosciusko County.

Reiff has been married to Brenda for 28 years and they have three children, Alex, 22; Betsy, 20; and Elliott, 17.
