Registration Continues For Wawasee ‘Iron Pride’ Summer Robotics Camps

SYRACUSE – Registration is open for Wawasee’s “Iron Pride” robotics team’s VEX Robotics camps this summer.
“Introduction to VEX Robotics” will be from 8 a.m. to noon on July 2, 3, 5 and 6. The camp is for grades seventh to 12th this fall and is for campers with minimal levels of experience with robotics. Participants will spend the week studying and applying concepts in physics, engineering and computer programming.
Campers will be introduced to the VEX Robotics platform used in high school. Participants will construct a basic robot and program it to follow a maze, then modify the robot to participate in a simple game.
The camp costs $100, with a $25 discount for registering before June 1.
Robotics Competition Camp has four sessions; July 2 to 6 (no session on July 4), July 9 to 13, July 16 to 20 and July 23 to 27.
All sessions run from 8 a.m. to noon and are open to campers grades seventh to 12th this fall.
This is for campers with all levels of experience with robotics. Campers will study and apply concepts in physics, engineering and computer programming.
Campers will construct robotic designs and use them to compete in the VEX Robotics Challenge for the 2018-19 competition season. Robotic systems designed will include chassis, intakes, lift systems, and manipulators. The cost is $50 per week, and participants can come for more than one week.
Coding Camp runs from 8 a.m. to noon July 30 to Aug. 3. The cost is $75 per participant. This is for campers with all levels of experience with robotics. Campers will spend time studying and applying concepts in computer programming as it applies to VEX Robotics including basic commands, programming logic, program flow and the use of sensors. Programs will be geared toward autonomous challenges for the VEX Robotics Turning Point Challenge for the 2018-19 competition season.
