A Chicago reggae band will perform Friday at Central Park.
The four-member band, Roots Rock Society, will perform from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
The concert is sponsored by the Warsaw Park and Recreation Department, and is part of the free concerts in Central Park.
A community workshop will be held at 6 p.m. where people can bring their guitars and drums to play with the band. The musicians will discuss the history of the instruments and reggae music.The band includes vocalist and guitarist Stann Champion, vocalist and keyboardist Jahkija, bass player Pa Pa D Bernstein and drummer Mandingo.
"Reggae is a feel-good music and we are happy to visit Warsaw for the first time," Champion said.
The band was awarded "Best Entertainer of 2003" by the 2004 Chicago Music Awards.
The band was founded in December 1986, and plays a blend of reggae, calypso, zouck and other African rhythms.
They have shared the stage with LL Cool J; Earth, Wind and Fire; K.C. and the Sunshine Band and Dave Matthews.
