Dr. Suellen Reed, Indiana's superintendent of public instruction, will be the keynote speaker at Education Summit XI: "Setting our Sails for Success" Nov. 18.
Reed will speak on the future of Indiana education.
Each of the six school districts represented at the Summit - Wawasee, Warsaw, Tippecanoe Valley, Triton, Whitko and Lakeland Christian Academy - has been invited to showcase a program or event from their district, and brief presentations about Core 40 and anti-bullying programs will be included. The third annual Community Book Read also will be kicked off.
Reed, besides being Indiana's superintendent of public instruction, also is the chairwoman of the state Board of Education and CEO of the Indiana Department of Education. She has been in office since 1992, having previously served as a teacher, assistant principal and principal, assistant superintendent and superintendent. She has a bachelor's degree from Hanover College and master's and doctorate degrees from Ball State University.
The Summit is scheduled for 7 to 10:45 a.m. Nov. 18 at 2517 Restaurant, Warsaw, and will include a continental breakfast. The event is free and open to the public as well as business leaders and administrators, students and teachers.
