WINONA LAKE - Winona Lake Redevelopment Commission President Rick L. Reidt resigned his position on the commission Wednesday. His resignation was effective at the close of the meeting.
Reidt said he resigned because he is moving to Syracuse.
"I will no longer be living within the city limits and will not be able to serve the remainder of my term on the Redevelopment Commission," Reidt said. "I am very proud to have been a part of the efforts to revitalize the Village of Winona."
Reidt also said he is proud to witness the surrounding business developments and he hopes to "see the community continue to grow and develop as it has over the last three years."
"It has been a pleasure working with my peers on the Redevelopment Commission," Reidt said. "I will always look forward to the times I will be able to visit Winona Lake again and enjoy the community."
Reidt extended his best wishes to all the commission members. His resignation was regretfully accepted.
Commission members also determined that property taxes payable to the allocation fund in 1999/2000 will not exceed the amount of funds necessary to make payments on bonds and outstanding debt.
The commission is required to notify the county auditor before July 15 of each year of the amount, if any, of excess property taxes that the commission has determined may be paid to the respective taxing units.
The Winona Lake Redevelopment Commission members include: president Rick Reidt, vice president Judy Reneker, secretary Judy Mugg, Bob Piecuch, Al Disbro and nonvoting council representative Craig Snow.
