Redevelopment Panel OKs 2008 Budget

Warsaw Redevelopment Commission approved three proposed budgets for 2008 during Monday's meeting.

The commission's budgets will need to be approved by the Warsaw City Council.

The proposed redevelopment general fund for 2008 is $28,881. The budget is to finance expenses required by the redevelopment commission, including legal and recording fees and engineering and surveying professional services.The proposed redevelopment allocation fund proposed budget is $815,963. The budget is for professional and engineering services.

The proposed redevelopment Northern Tax Increment Finance budget is $1,388,545.

Skinner said the city is considering purchasing property in the northern TIF district this year that could be included in the budget.

The commission also discussed the Gatke property located along Argonne Road in Winona Lake.

The commission has discussed at previous meetings using the property for a small business incubator where small business owners could rent out the space for offices.

Commission member Kyle Babcock said grass is getting high at the property and suggested a grass-cutting service cut the grass to make it look more appealing to neighbors and those who drive by the property.

Skinner said he will talk to Street Superintendent Lacy Francis about the street department cutting the grass.

Commission members are Charles Smith, Tammy Rockey, Savina Kralis, Neal Carlson and Babcock.
