Redeemer Lutheran School To Close

Posted

"We just cannot afford it," said Barb Lindquist about the closing of Redeemer Lutheran School at the end of this academic year.

The school has 50 students in kindergarten through sixth grade. The facility at 1692 W. Lake St. allows for 175 children. There also are 29 pre-school children.

The congregation April 21 decided to close the school, which began in 1983, at the end of this academic year.

Costs are $7,500 to instruct each child, Lindquist said. Costs to attend are $1,750 for the first child; $850 for the second; the third or more children attend free. The congregation has been covering 75 percent of the costs to run the school.

Parents have been notified about the school closing.

The building includes a full size junior high gymnasium, a computer lab, library and six classrooms.

"It's very sad," Lindquist said. "The congregation is sad they cannot continue."
