Red Ribbon Week At PES

Posted

Pink hair? Green hair? Backward clothes? What's going on at Pierceton Elementary? The students recently acknowledged 'Red Ribbon Week'. This is a week each October when families, schools and communities take a visible stand against substance abuse. Special announcements were made each morning to the student body concerning the choices students make about drug abuse. The PES Student Council sponsored special activities each day during Red Ribbon Week. On Tuesday, it was 'Turn Your Back on Drugs' (wear your clothes backward), Wednesday was 'Use Your Head; Don't Do Drugs' (crazy hair day), Thursday was 'Team Up Against Drugs' (wear sports team apparel), and Friday brought 'Say Boo to Drugs' (wear orange and black). Students discussed the message about saying 'no' to drugs each day. Pictured (L to R) are kindergarteners with 'crazy hair': Madilyn Bradley, Jordyn Leininger, Principal Barb Ihnen and Jayla Schwartz.
