Kosciusko County volunteer Susanne Siebrase deployed for Oklahoma this morning to work in Shawnee, Okla., as a disaster mental health volunteer. Siebrase is a Tippecanoe Valley Middle School counselor, who just finished her last day of the school year Thursday. This is her second deployment. More severe weather is forecast this week and people can download the free Red Cross tornado app to help stay informed. More than 167,000 people have already downloaded the app this month and there have been almost 450,000 downloads since its launch in March. The best and quickest way to help Oklahoma tornado victims is to donate to the American Red Cross disaster relief fund, according to a press release from the Red Cross. Donations may be made online at www.redcross.org/charitable-donations or text REDCROSS to 90999 to give $10. Your gift gives immediate help to those in need. Ninety-one cents of every dollar the Red Cross receives goes directly to helping victims of disaster. The Red Cross relies on the generosity of volunteers and donors to carry out its mission of providing immediate needs to victims of disaster.
