Red Cross Plans Sock Hop Fundraising Event

Posted
LEESBURG - The American Red Cross Chapter of Kosciusko County will host a fundraising event March 5 at Tippecanoe Lake Country Club, Leesburg.

This year's theme is "'50s Sock Hop" and will feature entertainment by Spike and the Bulldogs. The event begins at 6 p.m.

The event will include entertainment and silent and live auctions.

One of the highlights this year is a new iPad.

The Kosciusko Chapter holds this fundraiser to help raise awareness and funds to support the many services the Red Cross offers on a daily basis, such as disaster response, preparedness training, and health and safety classes.

"This fundraising event is a very significant part of the chapter's revenue - and we can't do it without the caring and supportive people of our community," said Jim Brennan, board chair of philanthropy for the chapter.

The 2011 Red Ball Committee members are Lisa Fulton, board chair; Peggy Lieffring, board vice chair; Brennan, philanthropic chair; Carol Stanton, executive director; and Sylvia Aguirre, event coordinator.

Tickets are available by calling the chapter at 574-267-5244.

The American Red Cross shelters, feeds and counsels victims of disasters; provides nearly half of the nation's blood supply; teaches life-saving skills; and supports military members and their families. The Red Cross is a charitable organization, not a government agency, and depends on volunteers and the generosity of the American public to perform its humanitarian mission.
