The American Red Cross is seeking blood and platelet donors to counterbalance canceled blood drives throughout the East Coast.
That region alone requires 900 donations daily to keep patients alive, according to Red Cross communications manager Marianne Spampinato.
“Nearly 300 blood drives were canceled due to Hurricane Sandy”, Spampinato said. “These drives were projected to collect 700 units of blood.”
The next blood drives in the area are: Thursday at Calvary United Methodist Church, Syracuse from noon to 6 p.m.; Saturday at YMCA, Smith Street, Warsaw 9 a.m. to 1p.m.; Nov. 13 at Center Lake Pavilion, Warsaw, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Nov. 15 at Par-Kan, Silver Lake, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m
