Recycling Project Helps Orphans In AfricaEditor’s Note: Lakeview Middle School Student Heidi Ziebarth is the co-founder of the Africrans Project. Africrans by Amerikids is a kid-based recycling project. Our family collects old crayons, sorts, peels, melts them, and then finally sells them. Half of the profits go to help orphans in Africa. We are so thankful to have a chance to help others and spread the message. Thank you to everyone who participated this year. We are proud to announce the results of our 2nd annual school crayon drive. This year we had the participation of twelve schools with a total of 915.6 pounds. Thank you all for your donations. We have almost doubled the pounds we received last year. Coming up, Africrans will have a table at the Pottery Bayou porch at the Village of Winona for the Fall Festival on Oct 1st. If you would like to help that would be a great time to sort or peel crayons and see our project display. Thanks again to the many people, community organizations, and classrooms who have supported and encouraged our project along the way. It's a great thing to unite to help others.
