Staff Report-
The Kosciusko County Recorder's Office announced a property fraud alert program provided at no cost to taxpayers.
In November 2008, the recorder's office partnered with Doxpop LLC to provide document images and index information to the public via the Internet. All documents filed in January 1992 or later are now available online through this service.Building on that success, the recorder's office has now partnered with Doxpop to offer a free property watch service to the community.
Any person may sign up at http://watch.doxpop.com to set a watch on his or her property and name.
Participants are notified via e-mail any time a document is filed that references the watched property or name. If a person has concerns about the document that they have been notified of, the person may then follow up with the recorder's office. Early notification and follow-up when an unexpected document is filed provides property owners with a powerful tool to prevent fraud, according to a press release provided by the recorder's office.
Kosciusko County residents who do not have Internet or e-mail access may register in person at the recorder's office.
For more information about this service or for assistance with registration, contact the Kosciusko County Recorder's office or call Doxpop at 866-369-7671.
