NAPPANEE – Ray A. Hauptli, 68, of 458 E. Indiana, Nappanee, died at 3:28 a.m. Feb. 23, 2012, at IU Health Goshen Hospital, after a short illness.
He was born Nov. 30, 1943, in Winamac, to Raymond and Evelyn Owen Hauptli. On Nov. 21, 1970, in Goshen, he married Ruth Ann Miller, who survives.
He received his General Educational Development certificate while serving in the U.S. Air Force. He was a truck driver, attended Nappanee Missionary Church and was a member of Nappanee American Legion.
Also surviving are five daughters, Regina and Renee Hauptli, both of Elkhart, and Becky (and spouse Scott) Newcomer, Rae Annette and Rita Hauptli, all of Nappanee; six grandchildren; a sister, Sara Mullin, Lafayette; and three brothers: Eugene (and spouse Laura) Hauptli, Francesville; Keith (and spouse Deb) Hauptli, Medaryville; and Terry (and spouse Tonya) Hauptli, Plymouth. He was preceded in death by a sister.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Nappanee Missionary Church with Pastors Justin Lamason and Marvin Engbrecht officiating. Burial will be in South Union Cemetery with graveside services by members of Nappanee American Legion.
Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday and one hour prior to the service Monday at the church.
Family and friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Nappanee Missionary Church Chapel and for one hour prior to the funeral service, which will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Nappanee Missionary Church Sanctuary.
