Posted
A man accused of a July 4 rape in Warsaw was transferred from the Elkhart County Jail to the Kosciusko County Jail early this morning.

Dustin Blake Kado, 20, formerly of Whispering Pines Mobile Home Park, Warsaw, and now of Elkhart, was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail at 1:40 a.m. today on one count of rape. His bond was set at $10,000.

Kado was arrested on a warrant requested by the Warsaw Police Department that stems from a July 4 incident at 306 S. Buffalo St., Warsaw.

According to information provided by the Warsaw Police Depart-

ment, Kado allegedly had sexual intercourse with an intoxicated 14-year-old girl during a party on July 4.

Kado reportedly told police he went to his bedroom where the girl was lying on the bed naked. Kado allegedly admitted to having intercourse with the girl, but said he thought she was 16 or 17 years old.

Kado reportedly denied taking the girl's clothes off and said she was not passed out when he entered the bedroom or during the alleged sex act.

When interviewed by the police, the girl said she and two underage friends drank from a bottle of vodka. She reportedly admitted to drinking, becoming intoxicated and going to the bedroom. While she was passed out in the bedroom, Kado reportedly had intercourse with her.

The victim reportedly told police that she did not imply that she was 16 or 17 years old, and said she told people at the party that she was not yet 15.

After leaving the party, the girl reported the incident to police and was taken to Kosciusko Community Hospital, where evidence from a rape kit was gathered.

Information for a charge of sexual misconduct with a minor also was forwarded from the Warsaw Police Department to the Kosciusko County Prosecutor's Office.
