SILVER LAKE -ÊTwo juveniles recently were arrested for vandalizing a set of Norfolk Southern tracks in Silver Lake.
The juveniles from Silver Lake, whose names were not released, allegedly removed between 300 and 400 spikes from a half-mile area just north of Silver Lake.
The vandalism to the railroad tracks was discovered by a Silver Lake fireman who witnessed two juveniles trespassing on railroad property. The fireman alerted the Silver Lake Police Department of the activity.
The juveniles were questioned, and charges are pending.
Because the vandalism was discovered early, a serious situation was avoided.
Railroad property is private.
