The Warsaw Tiger wrestling team was soundly trounced by Northridge 50-24 Tuesday.
The Tigers went through nine matches without a win, falling behind by a score of 44-0. Warsaw then won four of the last five matches in performances by experienced juniors and seniors.
Warsaw coach Tony Boley said, "It's going to be a tough fight all year long. Right now we're just looking for some leadership from the upperclassmen in the practice room."Ê
Warsaw assistant coach Tony Perry said, "The guys are too easy on each other during practice. A loss like this may help to up the intensity of our practices."
Warsaw is a bit inexperienced and plagued by injuries.
Northridge is a strong team that now boasts a 5-2 record, including a win over the Wawasee Warriors.
At 130 pounds for Northridge, Tim Kidder remains undefeated on the season after pinning Warsaw's Trenton Plummer in 1:10.Ê
Another unbeaten Northridge wrestler is Ben Grubert (152), who had to settle for a technical fall (15 match points) over Adam Galvin.

A few mistakes cost Anthony Boley his match to Anthony Lemon.Ê Boley simply had his head in the wrong place and ended up losing by 6-2 score. A Warsaw injury gave Northridge the win by forfeit at 112 pounds. Tanner Connealy (119) of Warsaw lost a 12-2 decision to David Blea, and then Warsaw's Daniel Harter (125) lost an 11-0 decision to Jeremy Weaver.

The Tigers, now 2-3, travel to Lake Central in northwest Indiana for a Saturday double-elimination team tournament. This promises to be a substantial test with many state-ranked wrestlers. The Tigers have a solid nucleus of individuals and should be well-suited to the double-elimination format of this event.
