Editor, Times-Union:
I have been watching, waiting and listening to all the noise about the fairground races and feel like chiming in before they and the fairgrounds are gone forever.
I pray I never get so old and miserable that I stop others from enjoying their youth because it is louder than the voices of anger in my head. The problem seems to stem from motorsports racing. I feel like it could be solved by removing the motors from the cars and trucks and replacing them with internal combustion engines and calling it as such. I agree motors are not that much fun and should be banned to allow real power to control the track.
I was also wondering if we went to the local court system could we also ban the loud trains that pass by our homes in all hours of the night and day? Even though the trains were here when we bought our homes we should expect to enjoy the peace and quiet of our properties Right? Never mind the economy for millions of people would be effected by the few of us living here on earth where there is noise caused by movement.
As for us wanting to go back to the past, tell that to all the racing fans in America that spend billions on the sport. If we asked him I think the Lord would say he likes families getting together and having something to yell and scream about other than politics.
Some people want to stop the race fans from enjoying a few weekends here in the summer doing what they enjoy because of noise, but not stop others from sitting at central park listening to "LOUD rock and roll"? Is that because the city puts on the old geezers? I'm just glad to know we will all be equal one day and our judge will be FAIR to everyone.
