Amid escalating violence in the Central African Republic, local non-profit Water for Good is hosting the Run for Others 5K June 15 to raise money to provide clean water to the people of that country. Water for Good has worked in the Central African Republic since 2004, but the need for their services has intensified as political instability and attacks from roving militia and rebel groups have left the country war-torn. Proceeds from the 5K will help Water for Good respond to the crisis. The race starts at the Trailhouse in the Village at Winona at 4 p.m. Pre-registration goes through Friday and costs $20. Registration is $28 after that. The presenting sponsor is MudLOVE and the gold-level sponsors are Hall & Marose Silveus Insurance and Wildman Business Group. In honor of Father’s Day, all fathers and children who participate together in the race will receive a MudLOVE band with the race logo on it. Registration can be found at waterforgood.org/5k or MudLOVE Downtown. The race is part of the Northern Indiana Lakes Festival happening June 6 to 15.
