Editor, Times-Union: Those who know me know that I am not a man of few words, and I have never met a stranger. When I say something, I have no problem accepting the consequences. However, I do not like having what I have said twisted to possibly mean more or less. Monday evening I was the concerned parent at the school board meeting and I did say that my father is a police officer and I would trust him with my life. Have you ever seen him shoot? It's like poetry in motion! I did not say that he is the only one, but that he is one of the few. Those officers who I would trust with my life probably know who they are, and it is probably a safe bet to say that those whom I wouldn't trust know as well. I have the utmost respect for all the men and women in law enforcement. They do a thankless job, for far too little pay, and sacrifice family time so others can feel safe.
