Editor, Times-Union: If the information regarding a member of your staff being a former attorney of the ACLU was inaccurate, I apologize. The person to whom I was referring was not from the ACLU but the Indiana Civil Liberties Union, which is now the ACLU. I do not believe for a second that anyone on your staff was in the employ of the ICLU at the time. In regard to the case of “Foster Parent Faces Molesting Charges,” Times-Union dated Thursday, March 28, 1996, you had a typed and signed confession by the perpetrator detailing the incident which notes that he is “embarrassed, ashamed, regretfully, very dumb.” Furthermore, the incident was reported to the authorities by the perpetrator’s wife after the perpetrator admitted the assault on the 7-year-old girl to her. It is beyond me how you could conclude that you could not possibly prove the case. Many criminal cases are not that tight. In a letter to the Times-Union editor, Feb. 10, 1998, a police officer serving the Warsaw community described your term as prosecutor as “pathetic.” During his service to the Warsaw community he attended and graduated from the FBI Academy. For him to identify with the kind of service you provided the citizens of Kosciusko County as “pathetic” and put it in the paper shows a high level of integrity, professionalism and love for the community he served. He so much wanted the community to know that he risked professional suicide. The above-mentioned case and how it was handled under your charge, as well as others, is an example of the discrimination in cases presented to you. And I can go on. I would hope that after 20 years since becoming a prosecutor, you would learn some very valuable lessons. The problem that I have is that you have switched from the Republican Party to the Democrat Party. It is in most cases because of philosophy. When the party aligns itself with partial-birth abortion and God being removed from their platform at the national convention, along with your past job performance as prosecutor, it concerns me. It makes me think you would go along party lines and not necessarily the wishes of your constituency. I don’t believe this is true representation. Can, or will you, perform the duties as an Indiana State Representative, giving the citizens of District 22 the absolute very best? Ron Moser Leesburg, via e-mail
