Questions for Wolkins

Posted
Editor, Times-Union:
I am surprised that there was a response from Rep. Wolkins regarding Mr. McClarnon’s letter to the editor about him. I was wondering if Rep. Wolkins responded to any of his constituents since I have yet to receive a response from him. I have emailed Rep. Wolkins numerous times in the last few months with no response. I have a few questions for him.

Why is there a rush for this bill to get passed? The normal start date for new bills that become law is July 1 and Jan. 1, but for some reason this bill will take effect March 14, can you tell us why Rep. Wolkins?

You say your poll was 78 percent support RTW, 18 oppose, and 4 percent are undecided. Well, seems strange that I was never polled. Who did you poll, the people that you knew would be supporters and a few others?

I would also wonder why you would mention that of the 18 percent that oppose are probably 100 percent union members. I have talked to numerous non-union people that are against this bill. How would you know that, and I would find it hard to believe that the only people in your district that oppose RTW are union members.

I attended the town hall meeting thinking that our representative would be there to speak about the bill, but I understand you were in the hospital that day. Why wouldn’t you put together another meeting to present your views and listen to what your constituents had to say regarding the bill?

I would have to agree with Mr. McClarnon’s letter that it seems you don’t care what your constituents have to say. Good luck in the next election, Dave! Oh by the way, Dave, nice bill you authored regarding deregulating the cosmetology profession. Really?
