Pursuit Ends With Fatal CrashSOUTH WHITLEY – A Pierceton man died from injuries suffered in a one-vehicle crash after leading police on a high-speed chase through two counties early this morning.
William D. Kent, 57, Pierceton, was taken to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne after the crash where he later died.
According to a Whitley County Sheriff’s Department report, a vehicle was reported stolen from Whitley County. Kosciusko County Sheriff’s deputies found and attempted to stop the vehicle in Kosciusko County.
The 2013 Chevrolet pickup failed to stop for law enforcement and a pursuit continued through Kosciusko and Whitley counties.
The pickup was headed east on CR 400S in Whitley County when it left the roadway at the intersection with Ind. 5 and hit two trees at about 2 a.m. today.
The release said road conditions were wet at the time.
