The balloon tags instruct finders to mail tags to HOW for a $10 refund, and they will have their name entered into a drawing for $500. Bell's tag was sponsored by Purity Cylinder Gases. Cardinal Center CEO, Jane Greene, presented a check to Norma Bauer as winner of the 1st Annual Duck Race, which benefits children's programs. Next year's race is scheduled for July 29. 25 Years Ago Due to inclement weather, Triton superintendent Rex Roth said that a December target date cannot be met for moving into a new elementary school presently under construction. A new target date has been set for spring break 1991. Connie Jetter, Warsaw, was voted the Kosciusko Community YMCA Employee of the Month. She has taught every type of aquatics class the “Y” offers since summer 1986. Every boy entering a racer will be presented with a flashlight, announced Gael Munson, local Chevrolet dealer and race manager. Winner of the third annual classic will be awarded a bicycle and a wrist watch from the Fitch jewelry store will go to the runner-up. Only cars which pass the necessary requirements will be allowed to make the 1,000-feet run down the steep concrete run-way on U.S. 30, which will be bathed with colors and American flags. Girl Scouts will be in charge of the concession stand, while the Boy Scouts and Legionnaires will assist the police in keeping order.
