I am writing to respond to Jim Martin's letter published Sept. 12.
I agree with part of his letter. We all pay taxes on items we buy such as automobiles, automobile parts and televisions, for example. I think we can eliminate the property tax, although it pays for our police and schools, but there has to be another option which would exceed the property tax revenue which would be fair to taxpayers.
Mr. Martin does not seem to mind paying his taxes, but you know, if you are unable to pay taxes on your property, you either ask for a loan or it's "bye-bye" to your house. We either eliminate this tax or find a solution to reduce it. I'll close this subject and leave it to our elected representatives.
