Gov. Daniels' 25-percent decrease in property taxes sure isn't going to help senior citizens very much.My gross assessed value of property remained the same, but my subtotal of net assessed value went up from $29,700 to $41,700 because they cut the old age exemption from $12,400 to $700 for me. I thought it was a standard deduction.
That shows how much they care about the senior citizens in this county. To me it looks like the seniors are paying for part of everybody else's tax cuts this year.
I also don't think we need a new city hall. It's just another way to get more of our money. Maybe they want to be down by the lake so they can have a swim during lunch time.
